Bio
Over Kylie Fox’s career, she has achieved the level of performing as a Principal and Soloist Artist with multiple Full-time and Freelance companies throughout the United States and extensively in New York City. Her career highlights include being featured as a ballerina in the iconic "The New Yorker" magazine for an illustrated series by Jenny Kroik (2022), as well as becoming the first African American "Sugarplum Fairy" in Iowa Dance Theater's 34-year history of presenting, "The Nutcracker" (2019).
Originally from the Midwest, Kylie Fox’s technical foundation was built on full scholarships with: Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet studying under faculty including Darla Hoover, Melinda Howe, and Julie Kent; Basil Thompson (Soloist/ABT, Ballet Master/Joffrey Ballet, and former Artistic Dir./Milwaukee Ballet); Jeffrey Bullock (Pacific Northwest Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance); and guest instruction by Jim Vincent (former Artistic Dir./Nederlands Dans Theater and Hubbard Street Dance). After moving to New York City, Kylie continued her training with years of private mentorship and tutelage from Karin Averty (Premiere Danseuse/Paris Opera Ballet and Principal/San Fransico Ballet); company classes with Ballet Hispanico by private invitation by former Asst. Artistic Dir. Michelle Manzanales; and presently receives coaching from Elena Kunikova (St.Petersburg’s Mikhailovsky Theatre Ballet).
Most recently, Kylie’s been a full-time Company Artist with Minnesota Dance Theatre (MDT) where she performed in various Soloist and Principal roles ranging from Classical ballet, Neo-classical, Graham, to Contemporary dance genres under the direction and coaching of Kaitlyn Gilliland and Lise Houlton. While at MDT, in addition to performing Ms. Fox had the opportunity to collaborate choreographically as a company dancer with Interim Director, Elyana Waxse for “Don’t Forget You Are Precious” and with Guest Choreographer Nia-Amina Minor’ for the extended version of “And Yet Here We Are” (original version premiered by Pacific Northwest Ballet) for the world premiere production of SPRING. Prior to MDT, Kylie was a full-time Company Artist with Eglevsky Ballet where she had the opportunity to perform at the Tiles Center and work with choreographers such as Gabrielle Lamb.
Ms. Fox’s repertoire includes classical ballet standards from George Balanchine, August Bournonville, Marius Petipa, and Jules Perrot, as well as, contemporary ballet works by Dwight Rhoden, Loyce Houlton, and Lise Houlton. Kylie’s performed in debut new works by choreographers such as: Ursula Verduzco, Royce Zackery, Nia-Amina Minor, and Nadia Vostrikov (with guest coaching by Craig Salstein). As well, Ms. Fox’s New York City performance experience includes: Periapsis Open Series, CounterPointe, Brooklyn Dance Gala; and the Liberty Hall, Brooklyn Bridge, and Higher Ground Dance Festivals. Additionally, she’s performed four times both in New York's "Fall Fashion Week" and for the historic organization "The Society of Illustrators".
Other companies Kylie’s professionally danced with include Albano Ballet, Ballet des Ameriques, Neville Dance Theater, Armada Dance, Encounters Dance, Windriven Arts/The Christy Walsh Projects, City Dance NY, Swan Ballet, and many more. As well, Ms. Fox has performed as a Principal Guest Artist with Iowa Dance Theater, Ballet Legere, and Paallam Arts.
Outside of performing, Kylie has been a two-time scholarship recipient of the “Healthy Dancer Initiative” Professional Development Program in conjunction with Mark Morris Dance Center, RIOULT, Gibney Dance, and Harkness Center for Dance Injuries/NYU Langone and has a private wellness practice in NYC.
